 True Intimacy

What is intimacy according to God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit?  Let us begin in Genesis 1:26-27, Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.  So God created man in His image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”  True intimacy from God’s perspective is knowing His creation.

Within the eternal fellowship of the Trinity, the members of the Godhead have always enjoyed a deep, rich, and unbroken relationship of love with one another.  When God created us, He wanted us to share in some measure of that fellowship; that is why He created us in His image.  By creating us to reflect His own nature, He made it possible for us to develop a deep and intimate relationship with Himself.  God is omniscience.  God is all knowing.  God is the Lord who knows our thoughts.  God is acquainted with all our ways, knowing our words even before they are on our tongues.  This is amazing that our God knows everything about us.  I am in total awe of You God.  Just as Moses said to You Father God in Exodus 33:13, “Now therefore, I pray, if I have found grace in Your sight, show me now Your way, that I may know You and that I may find grace in Your sight.  And consider that this nation is Your people.”

Dear God, I want to know You.  The only way to know You and experience true intimacy with You, is studying Your Word The Bible, prayer, and fasting.  Do you know Him for yourself?  It is okay if your answer is no right now because you can ask Jesus to change that for you.  Start by praying and asking Jesus to change your way of thinking to His ways of thinking.  Romans 12:2 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  Start by putting aside some time for Him each day.   In Exodus 33:7, “Moses took his tent and pitched it outside the camp, far from the camp, and called it the tabernacle of meeting.”  Just as Moses set aside time with God by pitching his tent outside the camp to have his alone time with God and to hear from Him, we too must have our alone time with our Heavenly Father.  We must get away from the world’s distractions and have the alone time with God, so we can hear from Him.  God desires to have a one on one relationship with you.  He is patiently waiting for an invitation to come into your heart.  Revelation 3:20 says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.”  Jesus says in John 15:4, “Abide in Me, and I in you.”  Jesus is waiting to transform you into a new creation and starting anew in Him.  2 Corinthians 5:17 promises, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”  This only applies if you have confessed Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, repented, and asked for forgiveness of sins.  Once this is done you can begin to have a relationship with God through His Son Jesus Christ and experience true intimacy with God.  Allow The Word of God to nourish you and change you from the inside out.

Are you hungry for more?  Allow the Lord Jesus Christ to feed you His Word.  The Bible is all you need.  Jesus is all you need and the only way to know Him is knowing the Word of God.  To get you started you can begin with the Daily Bread early in the morning each day.  You chose the time that is best for you.  Once you make it a good habit to put Jesus first in your life by beginning your day in the Word of God, The Bible, and getting to know Him, He will begin to reveal more and more of Himself to you.  I pray that you will want to know God intimately as He already knows you.  So what is intimacy?  Intimacy is a close, familiar, and usually an affectionate or loving personal relationship with another person.  It is God knowing His creation and us getting close to our Creator to know Him through The Word of God through Jesus Christ.
